In 2016, the Plymouth Festival of Cyclocross moved to Falmouth, MA and rebranded as the Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross. Since that time, we have worked diligently to grow the event. We wanted to show the North American bike racing community what we thought a cyclocross event could be. In that journey the race scaled up, starting in 2018 by hosting our first UCI races. In 2022, we hosted the Pan-AM Championships and moved to a C1/C2 race weekend.
Seeing the fun that everyone has had building the event and racing the races has been an extremely rewarding experience! We are super grateful to everyone that has come out to race and all the people who have put in the hard work to make to make it happen.
The last few seasons have proven to be progressively more difficult and costly to produce. An inability to obtain a protected calendar status for the 2025 season has dissuaded key sponsors from continuing their high level of support for future years. With no foreseeable sponsorships in the pipeline, we at the RRFCX have decided that the 2025 race will be the last year we run the event at this level.
The current plan will have the event return to its roots as a local event in 2026. Our hope is to make the event more affordable for all by reducing the costs that are associated with hosting an international level event. There will be no more UCI races. The 2026 event will still be a great time, on a great course. Just a bit lower key.
So, if you’ve always wanted to race the big UCI C1/C2 version of RRFCX, this year is the year!
The future will be fun, but it’s going to be different.
